I Heart Bags – Baggu

Confession:  I love to buy bags.  Although I am pretty picky about what bags I buy, it doesn’t always have to be name brand.  I like functional bags.  When I found Baggu, I had to share it.  These bags are good for carrying groceries, laundry, shoes, books, etc. And look at all of the colors! They are definitely going my wish list.

Currently Listening To…

Mostly, I listen to music, but recently, I started a free trial with Audible so that I could listen to audio books on my iPhone.  One of the reasons that I decided to try them out was because  I could get The Help for free.  It helped that I thought about buying it anyway.  This was my first time trying an audio book and I have to say that I like it.  Being able to hear the audio characters really makes the story come to life.  I just wish that the special offer would have come some time ago as I don’t want to see the movie until I finish the audio book.

Writing, Recording, Etc.

I have been working with two amazing pianists on a few songs that I am super excited about. I decided to do acoustic versions so that I can put something out for you all sooner than later.  Also, this having musicians is soooo much better than using a beat. When you use beats, others can use those beats, but when you have musicians that can do your melodies, then it’s great.  There’s nothing like having your own stuff!!  So here are a few blurbs about the songs that I am working on:

  • She Prays – a song about the things that a wife can pray for husband. while she is praying for him, she is doing him some good. It’s a good thing to pray for anybody, the Bible tells us to pray for one another.  as a wife it’s powerful and life-changing to pray for your husband
  • I Mean a Lot – a song that focuses on us being who we are because of God.  we are beautiful, we are worthy, we are amazing because of God.  No matter what people may tell us or what they think, we know that God thinks very highly of us and we mean a lot to him
  • The Right Way – a song about doing things the right way when you go through something. we should be giving him praise no matter what because he promised to give us victory over our enemies. proclaim God’s name and do things the right way
  • The Heart – a song about protecting your heart from all the bad things of the world. it’s about getting rid of negativity and focusing on what God says.  the heart is a special place for God, it’s where he can get to us the most.  even when the circumstances are not in your favor, a clean heart will be focused on God and waiting patiently on the things of God

So these are the songs that I plan to record soon.  Not sure when you all will hear them, but please know that I am not just simply singing.  I am writing, recording and such. :)

God T-shirts

These cute little tees can be found at Forever 21.  Forever 21 was recently accused of pushing a Christian agenda, but I’m not mad at them.  I hope they make more Christians t-shirts.

Posting Pictures of Your Beer

I have noticed on social media that a lot of Christians are sharing their wrong doings.  I’ve seen them post pictures of the beer that they had with dinner.  I’ve seen others curse.  I have seen many talk favorably about the worldly music that they listen to.  I am sure that there are other things, but it seems like it is being broadcasted now. Is it that people were always doing it and now because of twitter and facebook  it’s easier for it to come to light?

I am a little baffled, because I remember when we (Christians) didn’t do stuff like this.  Now that people are talking about the things that they do wrong, others are saying, “I am glad that you mentioned that because I do it too.”  It goes from the person being ashamed of what they’ve done to being happy that they know someone else that does it too.

I am not judging anyone, I am just confused by the actions of my fellow Christian brothers and sisters.

Share Your Testimony

Yesterday, a co-worker shared her testimony with me.  She had a wonderful story about how she was expecting God to move in her life and He did in great way!!!!

Her story was so good that I wanted to share it with others.  I love when people talk about the goodness of the Lord with me.  It gives me another opportunity to to praise him and brag about how awesome he is.

We should share our testimonies all of the time…it not only blesses you, but it can bless others.

Lessons Learned – Music

I’ve gotten rough drafts back from the pianist that I am working with.  I love the melodies that he put to my songs.  This whole process is amazing. Everytime I get something back, I am even more excited to get into the studio.

I really wanted to share a lesson learned from working with musicians.  I sent the pianist a song using the voice memo on my iPhone.  The quality on those things is great.  But anyway, the pianist created a slow melody to a song that I meant to be more mid-tempo.  After listening back to my voice memo recording, I realize how he could have done that.

In the future, I will be sure to note how I want the tempo of the song to be.  Not that this caused a problem, but it definitely could have saved some time…for both of us. The funny thing is that the song wasn’t slow in head, but I can’t expect people to read my mind. LOL

Getaway Sway

For my first installment of  Getaway Sway, I want to share with you my recent trip to the Blue Ridge, Mountains in Georgia.  Getaway Sway is all about giving you ideas of  places to go for your vacations.

The 411:

·         I found this beautiful upscale cabin by doing extensive research on the internet…it wasn’t easy, but I’ll make it easy for you (www.cabin-rentals-of-georgia.com)

·         We went during off-season so the rental rate was a little cheaper ($50 off)

·         Rental rates and cleaning rates are charged by the number of people in your party

·         This rental company requires half of the total fee at your initial reservation, then the you pay the rest about two weeks before your stay. They also require a hefty $500 security deposit for any damages so please do everything that they ask of you

·         The intent of our getaway was to relax, so I would suggest a 4 day/ 3 night stay so that you will have adequate time for R&R.

·         We brought all of our own food therefore I can’t tell you a thing about the restaurants in the area :( )

·         The weather was hot during the day (not humid), but nice at night

·         Bring your own soap, everything else is pretty much provided

·         Dress comfortably and casually most of the cabin roads are gravel (you don’t want to wear heels in that)

If you would like to submit a Getaway Sway post for consideration, email peachpost@gmail.com.  We would love to hear all about your trip.
