Have a Peach of a Weekend

JESUS LOVES ME

The church that I used to attend had this saying: ” I love Jesus. He loves me. Because he loves me.  I love you.”  Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you.  This holiday is most known for celebrating love. Lets celebrate the love that God has for us.

Here are a few songs that would be on my Valentine’s playlist. They all celebrate “the ultimate” love.

Now back to the regular scheduled randomness – enjoy the links:

Going out on Valentines?

The first Valentine’s Day that me and my hubby shared together was in 2006.  We had just started dating and he planned a nice a evening that included Valentine’s at The High Museum of Art.  It was a great date, but it was very crowded and the line was super long.  In 2007,  we went out for Chinese early in the evening trying our best to avoid the crowds.  In 2008, we ordered in so that we could avoid the crowds.  In 2009, we thought that we would avoid crowds by going to breakfast and the place was packed.

So this year my hubby wanted to narrow down ideas that he had for Valentine’s.  He gave me a couple of choices – fancy or casual?  I immediately went for casual.  Why? To avoid the crowds.  We sat and reminisced on all the Valentine’s Days that we spent together and realized that we don’t like going out on Valentine’s.

On this Valentine’s Day I am sure that our plans will include doing something very low-key.  As far gifts, we always get each other a little something. So I definitely look forward to that but I also look forward to sleeping in and spending the day with my hubby.

What experiences have you had with going out on Valentine’s Day?

Black History Moment

The black history moment for this week features our President and First Lady, Barack Obama and Michelle Obama.  They are the 1st African-Americans to hold the titles of President of the United States and First Lady of the United States.

===================================

I chose a casual picture of the President and First Lady because I wanted to show how loving they look together.  Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.  I thought it would be nice to use a couple that seemed to show a good example of a loving relationship as well as highlight them as a part of black history.

Bits and Pieces

Summary of last week

  • Monday – my puppy decided that she didn’t want to be in her crate and successfully got out.  My brother came home a couple of hours after the hubs and I left for work  and our little puppy was on roam.
  • Tuesday – Me and another co-worker decided to plan a bridal shower for one of our dear friends.  We are so excited to be doing this.  Congrats CM!!!!
  • Wednesday -  Bridal shower planning over lunch.  So many details!!!
  • Thursday – Superbowl luncheon at work.  The highlights were the Lasagna Soup and Brownie Trifle.  One word – Yum!
  • Friday – Off day.  Took the pup to PetSmart. She got her little nails cut and trimmed. She loved PetSmart so much that she didn’t want to get back in the car. I couldn’t believe that she was stalling in the parking lot.  And it was raining.  I had to put the little pup in check.
  • Saturday was The Great Shred Event from CBS in Atlanta.  I was able to check off something on my 101 things  because I got my old bills shredded. Yay!!!
  • Sunday – Church, Superbowl Party and Puppy Play date (didn’t go as well as we would have liked).  Also watched the video clip of the Cardboard Testimonies via Kelly’s Korner.  It is so powerful.  I’ve looked at it twice and cried both times.

I have to say Happy Birthday to Terry Berries.  It’s her 30th bday and she has a little one on the way. I hope that you had a wonderful day!!!!

Have a Peach of a Weekend

This weekend includes choir rehearsal, a doggie play date and a superbowl party. Maybe not a party, but more of a get-together as most of our couple friends are welcoming babies into their lives.   I imagine that our crowd will be nice and small this year. Also, I would like to get my documents shredded this weekend.  That would be a great way to check something off on my list

In the meantime here a few good links for you to enjoy.

Cheap Gifts for Him – Valentine’s

Do It Yourself Coupons  are a great idea for Valentines. You can do coupons for a movie night – your choice, back rub, watch the game with me, night out with the guys, etc.

Black History Moment

In honor of Superbowl Sunday, I would like to take the time to highlight former football player and NFL coach, Tony Dungy.   He was the 1st  African American coach to win the Superbowl in 2007 when his Colts beat the Bears.  He was also the first coach to defeat all 32 NFL teams in four years to take a team to the Super Bowl.

Black NFL Coaches (as of February 2, 2010)

  1. Jim Caldwell = Colts (going to the Superbowl this Sunday)
  2. Raheem Morris = Buccaneers
  3. Mike Tomlin = Steelers
  4. Lovie Smith = Chicago Bears
  5. Marvin Lewis = Bengals
  6. Mike Singletary – 49ers

What’s on your Valentine’s Day wishlist?

This Valentine’s Day I am wishing for chocolate… well the smell of it

Godiva Chocolate Candle at Bath & Body Works, $22.50

Philosophy Fudge Cake - Multipurpose Cleanser at Sephora, $16

Now for the taste of it….

I know you all have seen these in the stores, but these little balls of chocolate are my absolute favorite.

Yum!!! This is probably one of favorite cakes.  It’s a White Chocolate Cake from Piece of Cake  bakery here in Atlanta.  Just a slice will do!

So just for the fun of it, what are you wishing for?
