Music Rings

This picture rings sweet music in my ear. Pun intended.

This is such a beautiful ring shot.

Atlanta Sports STAND UP!!!!!!!!

Let me first say I support all of the professional sport teams here in my native town Atlanta, GA.  As a sports fan I feel like we as a town need to support our teams a little more. As I read on different forums and blogs and listen to different sports radio stations I have noticed that we (Atlanta) have been dubbed a “bad sports town”. That’s mainly due to our fan support which is kind of sad. Although I will take into consideration that Atlanta and the metro area has a lot of transplant citizens with their loyalty being to another team but that should not be an excuse.

After all these years of having bad teams we finally have multiple teams that are good and we should be supporting them. Now as an Atlanta Falcon’s fan the support there is still pretty strong but not as strong as when Michael Vick was still on the team but that’s another story within itself so I won’t go there

Ok so now let’s visit Hawks which is one the hottest teams in the league right now but when you see all the empty seats at the games one would think that they were the worst team. The only time you see Phillips arena filled is when the marquee players come in town like Lebron, Kobe, D. Wade and others. Why is it like that? It’s pretty much always been like that as far I remember.

Having said all that we’ve got to do better as sports fans because what would we really do if we didn’t have those teams?  Something to think about.

Happy Weekend

It’s cold here in Atlanta and I have been in the house all day long.  I’m battling a cold but I feel a little better now.  Thank God that today was a regularly scheduled off day and because of that, I was able to get some much needed rest.

I hope you all have a happy weekend.  If you’re in Atlanta, bundle up and stay warm. Check out PeachPost Inspirations for beautiful pictures, words and expressions. I will chat with you all next week.

Meet Master Smiles

I didn’t take many pictures thoughout the holidays, but I had the opportunity to capture of a shot of this little cutie pictured above. The hubs and I met with one of my girls, her hubby and their precious little boy. Isn’t he adorable????

We dined at Apres Diem and it is so so good. If you haven’t been there, you should go.  I highly recommend the salmon ciabatta – it’s my favorite.

I Love My Hair

I believe that I posted about the I Love My Hair line a while back, but it’s worth mentioning again.  These prints were created by Andrea Pipin to encourage African-American women to love and embrace their natural hair. Check out more of her work at I Love My Hair or visit her blog Fly

Andrea also does natural hair tutorials from time to time. Here is a link to her famous Twist Out Fro.

Oh My Nails

So lately I’ve been talking a lot about painting nails, which by the way, I am enjoying the Sally Hansen Pure Chrome nail polish.  It’s a bright silver color.  However, I wanted to fill you in on the Louboutin Manicure – that would be black on top and red underneath.  Am I late on this?  Not sure if I am bold enough to try it but it’s still cute.

Also check out the Alice in Wonderland collection from OPI. They are featuring a new tomato red, glittery blue, purple-ish confetti with multitude of colors and a berry red.  The OPI collection can be found in the following stores: Ulta, JC Penny, Sephora.

One Big Happy Family

Have you all seen the show, One Big Happy Family on TLC?  It’s a show that documents a weight loss journey of a family of four who all weigh between 300 – 400 pounds.

Last night on the show,  the sweetest thing happened.  The husband and wife, Norris & Tamika,  celebrated their 10 year wedding anniversary.  The husband, Norris,  decided to set up an actual proposal for his wife.  I mean the whole getting down on one knee, engagement ring, speech, etc. The reason that he wanted to propose was because Tamika initially proposed to him.

Norris  wanted to make things right  on their 10th anniversary and give Tamika a well deserved proposal.  With assistance from his two teens, he picked out a ring and wrote a speech.  The whole thing was so cute, but what really got me, was how Norris was so nervous.  He tried to memorize his speech but it didn’t seem to work.  The kids were making noise and he wanted total silence so that he could concentrate on the proposal.

On proposal day, the teens along with their dad surprised Tameka with a visit at her job. The teens had prepared a nice poem for their mom and performed it for her.  Norris entered the room a few moments later with roses, candy and such.  Then he got down on one knee and said beautiful words from his heart.  It was sooooooo sweet.  Tameka was a lost for words and cried during Norris’ speech, but she finally said yes.

====================================================

It’s never to late to create a moment for a loved one.  After ten years, this dude makes a way to propose to his wife.  How sweet is that? If you can create a special moment for someone  in your life, don’t hesitate to do it.  It would mean the world to them.

The IRS

It’s funny that when you owe the IRS money or any other business for that matter, they hound you and threaten to take the money out of your pay check.  On the flip side, when they owe you money they take their sweet precious time.  I mean- can I tell the IRS to give me a few weeks before I send them a payment? No way.  If you are one day late they are all over you.

This is what I call one unfair double standard.  I was on the phone with the IRS for at least two hours waiting on them to look into why they haven’t sent me a check.  After all was said and done, they told me to give them a call in six weeks to check on the status.  What kind of mess is that?

I declare in Jesus name that the devil will take his hands off of my money.

5 Things to do This Month

  1. Download some good gospel music (legally) – Here are few suggestions: Awesome Wonder by either Trent Cory or  Youthful Praise, A Heart That Forgives by Kevin Levar, Teach Me by Kierra Sheard, You Belong to Me  by Algernon.
  2. Do something fun – I would really like to go to Snow Mountain this month so I think I am going to get a group of folks together and go.  Let me know if you want to join me.  If you are on a budget, host a game night or have a superbowl party and do it pot luck style.
  3. Do something really nice for one of your friends – offer to make a meal, help them with a project, write a letter to a distant friend.  I have a friend that is overseas and have yet to send her a care package.  I so need to get it together.
  4. Try a new recipe or two – This month my husband and I are going Flexitarian.  What is Flexitarian?  It’s a style of eating where you decrease meat consumption without eliminating it entirely from your diet.  My new recipes will be Shrimp Fettuccine and Corn & Potato Chowder.
  5. Paint your nails a funky color. Right now I am loving this Metro Chic polish that I found at Sephora.  It’s a grayish color with a little bit of purple.
