Have a Peach of a Weekend

What are you doing this weekend? I plan to have date night with my husband. Maybe dinner and a movie???? Either/or …I don’t know. A lot of people have been telling us to go and see The Book of Eli so we may give that a go. Have any of you seen it?
Speaking of movies, Valentine’s Day releases on 2/12/10 and it has an all-star cast – Jessica Alba, Jamie Foxx, Julia Roberts, Patrick Dempsey…just to name a few. Although I may not go to the movies to see it, I’d like to see it on dvd.
Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, you should start hinting to your husbands about what you want. I’ve rounded up a few links that may give you some ideas.
- Desserts are great for Valentine’s Day
- Nature inspired gifts at Terrain via Design Sponge
- The Kinky Card by I Love My Hair (guys this would be cute to give to your natural hair sweetie)
- Gifts under $25 by Cheap Chic Daily
- Here’s some eye candy for ya
Happy Feet
Lately I have really been focusing on building a nice shoe wardrobe. I have nice shoes, but the one area that is lacking is the comfy work shoe department. I have to wear low heel comfy shoes because over the past year I have encountered some problems with one of my knees. So I only wear high heel shoes on occasion.
Throughout the summer I wore shoes very similar to the ones below. I found them for about $14 at the Nine West Outlet in Locust Grove. I tried to make these same shoes work for the fall and winter, but that didn’t always work out for me. So I would wear lots of flats to work.
Flats can be cute, but sometimes they just kill an outfit (especially business attire). You can wear an outfit with flats and it just looks okay, but throw a pair of heels on and you’ve just made your outfit haute.
In the past few days I have taken the time to really shop for some nice comfy low heel shoes that I can wear to work. So my next attempt at comfy work shoes will be the Nine West Purpose. They are cute and the heel is only 2″. Did I mention that they only cost $23?
I really like Nine West in case you didn’t notice. I believe that a majority of my shoes are from this brand. I also like Naturalizer and Aerosoles. They usually have a quite a few stylish picks.
There is nothing wrong with wearing lower heels especially if you are having problems wearing high heels. You don’t have to sacrifice style if your great looking shoes are hurting you. The transition can be very easy and here are some great tips follow.
Oh by the way, I bought these 3.5″ heels for occasion. LOL

Valentine’s Day – Gift Idea

A box full of love letters – Try doing a week/month/year’s worth of sealed letters and put them into a nice box. You can use true letters from yourself, romantic quotes from various poets, write a few lines inviting your sweetie on a future date or use old pictures with a cute little note attached. The possibilities are endless here.
What are you planning to give your sweetheart for Valentine’s day?
Bits and Pieces
- I really wanted some fried chicken today.
- A co-worker that was recently married went to Morocco, Spain and Italy for his honeymoon. How cool is that!!!!!
- I went to a meeting that was so boring that everyone was watching the clock on the sly waiting to get out.
- Sometimes I wish that could sleep all day just like my eight month old puppy.
- Do you ever want to come home and take a picture because your outfit was so cute? I felt like that yesterday.
- Have you ever agreed to do something but then regretted it? Yeah, I did that over the weekend.
- This weekend I lost my voice – so I couldn’t really sing. And I love to sing.
- Last night’s dinner sucked. I was totally lazy.
From the Weekend
So this weekend we celebrated my husband’s birthday. A few of our couple friends, my sister in-law and nephew came over to help us celebrate. The theme was game night so we brought out the Wii and Uno Attack.
I decorated using red and shades of blue – trying to get as close to the New York Giants colors as I could (that’s my hubby’s favorite team). I incorporated a simple tablescape so it wouldn’t look girly, but candy and varied heights seemed to do the trick.
On the menu was spinach dip with pita chips, nacho cheese dip and buffalo wings.
The cake was a huge surprise to my husband. He had no idea that he would be getting a Giants themed cake. I actually came up with that idea at the last minute. Thank God for the bakery guy at Wal-Mart who hooked it up for me. He did an awesome job.
