What is an inspiration board? An inspiration board is a group of images that are put together to give a certain look or feel. It can be used for event planning, home decorating, fashion styling, hair styles, etc.

Pre-Marital Counseling

The Conscious Bride over at Aisle File wrote a post about Pre-Marital Counseling. She and her fiance just started counseling and they seem to love it. My husband and I took a 1-day class with about 10 other couples that was designed to introduce us to various useful tools and skills to help strengthen marriages. The class was awesome and we loved it. I personally don’t think that counseling could hurt anything. It can only help.

Check out “Pre-Marital Counseling: Are You Game?” over at the Aisle File and let the Conscious Bride know if you are game.

Tablescapes for Dessert Buffets

I just love dessert parties. They seem to be so classy and elegant. In order to make a great table presentation be sure that you have a variety of desserts. You want to make sure that you take advantage of the space on the table that you use.

For my table at home, I could do about 3 round cakes with two large platters of various desserts and one small platter. I would also add candles and floral arrangements. Check our the tablescapes over at Amy Atlas. They are amazing. I plan to do a table just like one of hers.

Date Night on a Budget

We all can enjoy a date night every now and then. Considering that money is pretty tight for people right now (Keyword: right now). The Bert Show on 99.7 FM in Atlanta has come up with a few suggestions for dating on a budget.

Here are a few things that I would try from their list:

  • The STARLIGHT DRIVE-IN MOVIE THEATRE - Although my husband and I haven’t been there in a while it is the ultimate cheap date. I told him that I thought it would be cute to bring a picnic basket and watch the movie from the back his truck. So pack your food and go on a date at the Starlight and catch two movies for the price of one. General admission is $7 per person and they only accept cash.
  • Martinis and IMAX sounds like a great Friday date at Fernbank with live music and films. Martinis & IMAX© tickets, which include admission to the IMAX® Theatre, are $15 for adults. For those who wish to enjoy the atmosphere of Martinis & IMAX® without attending a film presentation, there is a $7 cover charge after 6:30 p.m.
  • How about the shooting range? I’ve done that on a date before and I had a lot of fun. Well on a Saturday morning you could go to the Tom Lowe Trap and Skeet Range off of Camp Creek and then have lunch at one of the many restaurants in that area. For about $14 you get one box of shells, one round of shooting and free shooting clinic. If you attend the class, then you also get free ear plugs and free use of rental glasses and rental guns.
  • A lot of us probably haven’t been to the Atlanta Zoo in while, but yet again another good daytime date that should include lots of time for chatting. Zoo Atlanta admission is $18.99 for adults.
  • Sunday evening dinner at Shaun’s Restaurant in Inman Park should be pretty appetizing. They have Pasta Night every Sunday evening for about $12 per person that includes bread, salad, pasta entree and dessert.
  • Get your in-theatre dining experience at Fork and Screen (formerly known as Buckhead Backlot). This is a full service movie theatre that serves drinks and food. The price for the movie is $10 all day Monday – Thursday and Friday, Saturday and Sunday before 4pm. For weekend days after 4pm, the cost of the movie is $15.

What are some of your budget date ideas?

Donald Lawrence & Co.

I am really feeling the new Donald Lawrence cd. It talks a lot about speaking the Word which has been my theme this year. This album feature The Company which includes singers such as Dewayne Woods, Latrice Pace and so many other talented voices. “We need to say the right word for the right thing” says Donald Lawrence. He talks about how we use negative words to describe great things. You know we say “that was so sick” or “he killed it.” Lawrence says, how does our spirit know what to do when we are saying the wrong words? The Co. sings boldly, “There is a law of confession you just say what God has said…Speak the Word.” And that’s all that’s left to say.

My favorites: Back to Eden, Speak the Word, Citizens of the Kingdom, Let the Word Do the Work, Happy Being Me, There is a King in You

Mother’s Day Blessings

The Bible teaches us to honor our parents in the Lord. Since today is Mother’s Day, I would like to share one of my favorite passages in the Bible about mothers.

Proverbs 31:10-12 and 25-31

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. (NIV)

To all mothers and mothers to be – Happy Mother’s Day!!!!!!

Fashion Friday

Find me on Polyvore

It seems as though people don’t dress up anymore. We don’t dress up in the office or anywhere else that we go. I’ve noticed that I don’t really dress up to go to work. What happened?

At my job a lot of people had become so laxed with our attire that our managers were asked to review the Dress Code Guidelines with the employees. Our office attire went from business casual to just plain old casual. We were wearing play clothes for business clothes and apparently someone to it too far.

Since casual Friday is now an everyday thing, Designer Woody Wilson suggests wearing a dark wash jean because that can easily be dressed up for the office. The jeans can be paired with a blazer and then you are good to go. If you have suits you can break them up and wear a casual shirt with the slacks/skirt and wear the jacket over jeans.
